Hey, thanks for stopping by!

I'm Megan, a San Diego-based food photographer, nutritionist, and all-around food enthusiast. Documenting any step of the food journey from plant to plate is my jam. I specialize in crafting simple yet polished eye-catching images that engage the senses and highlight the distinctions that make your brand so special.

My love affair with photography began in earnest while living in Chile and traveling throughout South America during the late 00’s. Observing and capturing the nuances of day-to-day life in an alternate hemisphere quickly became an obsession. Years later, as a nutritionist, the pivot to food photography felt like a natural progression.

While the beauty of food itself has provided ample inspiration for my work, food as a form of self-expression is equally fascinating to me. Feeding one another is so layered with meaning! For some it's synonymous with love, a history of family and ancestors, a celebration of culture, an art form, a paycheck, a vital component of both social and environmental justice, and ultimately an incredible vehicle for human connection. With so many themes to explore, I know I'm exactly where I need to be.

Enough about me! How can I help? I’d love the opportunity to get to know you better. You can schedule a discovery call with me HERE .

Hi I’m Megan, a San Diego-based photographer, nutritionist (RDN), and enthusiastic cook. After spending a healthy portion of my childhood and early-ish adulthood living abroad, my fascination with the intersection of people, language, and FOOD was born.

I believe food may be the remedy for all that ails us. While the beauty of food itself provides ample inspiration, I'm just as intrigued by the role food plays in building and nourishing community. Feeding one another can be an act of love, a history of family and ancestors, an introduction to a previously unfamiliar culture, an art form, a paycheck, a vital component of both social and environmental justice, and ultimately an incredible vehicle for human connection.

My dual passions of photography and food first collided during the years I spent in the non-profit nutrition world. During this time, I developed and tested recipes, enjoyed serving clients from around the globe, and produced visual content that was featured in nutrition education and marketing initiatives throughout California.

These days I live in North Park with my husband Jonathan where I enjoy foraging for veggies in my family's garden, trying to nail a handstand and hold it, drinking strong coffee, and speaking mediocre Spanish with my two young rambunctious sons. I've got a chronic itch in my feet and can typically be found plotting my family's next adventure!

About

I’m Megan, a San Diego-based food photographer, stylist, nutritionist, and all-around food enthusiast. Documenting any step of the food journey from plant to plate is my favorite. My specialty lies in crafting rich visual imagery to promote food (and food-adjacent) brands that offer creative solutions towards bettering the health of our bodies, our communities, and/or our planet.

The true beginning of my love affair with photography was serendipitous. In 2007, unbeknownst to me, my partner entered me in a half-marathon because he heard there were cash prizes. I guess it’s nice to have someone that “believes” in you, or maybe were just short on cash. It’s hard to say at this point. Miraculously, I managed to finish the race and place third. Yep. Third out of three women. Later, after spending a day in bed with a pizza to recover, the prize money led to the purchase of my first decent camera.

Being a nutritionist, food photography was a natural progression. For me, the beauty of food itself provided ample inspiration, but food as a medium for self-expression was equally fascinating. Feeding one another can be an act of love, a history of family and ancestors, a celebration of culture, an art form, a paycheck, a vital component of both social and environmental justice, and ultimately an incredible vehicle for human connection.

Now that you know a little about me, how can I help? I’d love the opportunity to get to know you a little better!
